SOCIAL STUDIES SEEEEEL

The New Zealand government begun the signing of the treaty of Waitangi on 6th of February 1840. The British colonists believed that by signing the treaty the Maori would accept them.
The British promised. The Maori authority and the British style of government is different. For example in Maori authority people were responsible for their own whanau,There were no courts,Judges police or prison, and etc..while the British government authority law was to control society and stop people from baking laws and rules, people were responsible for the whole society. and etc....
The NZ government signed the treaty during the 1800's and english believed the the Maori chiefs would trust them after they signed the treaty.
