Lesson 4 week 9 art blog

 This week in art we've been working on our first portfolio board. The pieces in my folio include the colours black, white and browns to give a menacing vibe and red to show the elegance of the vampire and wine. The rest of my board would all be in black and white so it all relates to one of my artist model Kathe Kollwitz. the piece in the middle of my board and the second to last piece would be related to James Constable as I would be drawing an interior and a landscape of the vampire's castle. The third artist I would reference is Johannes Vermeer through out the rest of my board as well since I like the renaissance style and it fits my board very well. 

Painters Block

 We had to read this article for art class to see what people do to get rid of Painter block also commonly known as an art block.  https://emptyeasel.com/2011/02/08/warm-up-excercises-for-painters-how-to-break-through-painters-block/ . Painter's block is when an artist cannot access their creativity or cannot bring themselves to create new artwork. If I get Painter's block, I would do other things to inspire me, or go on social media and look at other people's arworks. I would also go on Pinterest because it is a very creative app. 

 I also paint a lot of fanart so I watch the media I am making fanart of and get inspired by that.

Solidifying Kaupapa

  This year, my Kaupapa is Spiritual/Cultural. It is more on the spiritual side as I would be basing my portfolio around vampires I chose this theme because I like the vampire and victorian aesthetic, along with the dark theme. 

Dracula is a vampire, he is from the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker. I will be painting mirrors without reflections to show that he is a vampire. I would also mostly paint in black and white to make give my paintings more of a menacing vibe and I would also add splashes of red to make it more eye-catching. I would also paint a portrait of him in my own interpretation inspired by others as well. 

I chose Dracula as a subject matter because he is a vampire and is the original one.
