This year as a year 13, I attended the Level 3 English course for the whole year. What worked well for me was that I was able to finish my work. Even though I was able to improve my English writing skills, I definitely underestimated the marking criteria this year and had to force myself to work through it which was the difficult part. What didn't work well was my speaking assessment which is the speech. I didn't do well in the speeches as I lacked experience in public speaking and it isn't my strong asset.
Through level 3 English, I was able to gain UE literacy because of my writing portfolio.
What I could've done to enhance my learning is that I should've manage my time properly and maybe as for feedback more often so I would know what to improve. There was also a time when we missed several classes due to the strike so that affected my groove. Fortunately, my teacher has been patient with me and has helped me with my work through feedback in person and online.
My advice for year 13s next year is that it is difficult and do not underestimate the subject as the marking is quite strict. Doing the work immediately and finishing it early would definitely help as you could ask the teacher for more help.
What can my teacher do differently for future students is maybe utilize our Chromebooks more and maybe focus on one assessment instead of doing two at the same time?
